Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: 鈥淲orks are now officially underway for our improvements to Sincil Bank.

鈥淪tarting from today, the team will be working at Sincil Bank until early 2025 to make the area a nicer place to live for residents and a more welcoming place for visitors.

鈥淣ot only will we be working to reduce rat-running through the neighbourhood by revising the one-way system, but we鈥檙e also building a new northbound cycleway between LNER Stadium and Kesteven Street so people on foot and cycle have a safer route.

鈥淏y tackling issues around Sincil Bank鈥檚 poor accessibility and high levels of traffic, we hope to improve residents鈥� quality of life and the area鈥檚 air quality. Doing this will also help Lincoln continue to grow as a thriving place to live and work.

鈥淎s with any major road improvements, there will be some disruption during the project due to the phased road closures that will be in place along Sincil Bank. But I want to assure everyone that access will be maintained for residents and businesses throughout the works.

鈥淲e鈥檒l also be working closely with Lincoln City Football Club to keep them updated on our traffic management so they can update their fans ahead of any affected matches.鈥�

As part of the project, the following changes will be made to the area:

• Provision of a new green corridor for cyclists and pedestrians along Sincil Bank, between the entrance to Lincoln City Football Club鈥檚 LNER Stadium and Kesteven Street. This will include the provision of a northbound cycleway; planted areas; and the resurfacing of several sections footway and carriageway along Sincil Bank.
• Implementation of a revised one-way system within the Sincil Bank area. This is in conjunction with the previously implemented residents鈥� parking scheme.
• A number of aesthetic changes, in the form of gateway features, incorporated into the project at a number of key junctions within the Sincil Bank area (these will be carried out away from the carriageway with minimal traffic management).

City of Lincoln Council Leader, Councillor Naomi Tweddle, said: 鈥淲e鈥檙e pleased that works are now underway in the Sincil Bank area to improve the urban realm. 

鈥淭he Be Lincoln Town Deal aims to foster collaboration, helping our city become a top destination for both residents and visitors, and the Sincil Bank project is a prime example.
