Works to build a new puffin crossing on London Road are now complete.
Cllr Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: 鈥淭his new crossing on London Road, which is part of our Community Crossings Initiative, will have a very positive impact on Wyberton.
鈥淪o far, the initiative is progressing really well with new crossings built in Great Gonerby, Grantham and Boston so far. And, because all of these crossings were proposed by local people via their elected county councillor, everyone has been incredibly supportive of what we鈥檙e doing.
鈥淭his is a perfect example of councillors delivering for their local residents, since all of these new crossings will not only increase safety, but also improve the lives of those living in the communities where they鈥檙e located by making it easier to get around without a car.鈥�
Cllr Alison Austin, county councillor for Boston South, said: "As the former A16, London Road is still a busy route for local traffic between Boston and Kirton.
"The Co-op shop and the nearby community facilities are very popular destinations for local people and others, so this new crossing will make getting around without a car much safer.鈥�
This project is part of the ongoing Community Crossing Initiative, which will see over ten pedestrian crossings built throughout the county. The initiative will cost 拢3.8 million, with 拢1.5 million earmarked by Executive in 2023 and the remaining coming from a combination of additional county council funding and developer contributions.
