Grantham Highway improvements

A series of major highway works are scheduled to take place in Grantham throughout 2024.

Below is a list of the planned works:

Spring 2024

  • SKDC’s proposed changes to the Market Place in the town centre
  • Reconstruction of sections of High Street, Great Gonerby and Gonerby Road, Grantham
  • Construction of a new pedestrian crossing at High Street, Great Gonerby

Summer 2024

  • Reconstruction of Dysart Road
  • Reconstruction of Alma Park Road
  • Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing
  • Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
  • SKDC’s proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction

Aims and benefits

  • improved road surfacing resulting in safer and smoother journeys for residents
  • improved crossing facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and others not traveling by car
  • improved quality of life for residents of Grantham

Cost and funding

The total cost for the roadworks (excluding SKDC’s Market Place and Station Approach works) will cost nearly £4 million and is being funded by us.

Market Place

Dysart Road

Activity Dates
Footway works, drainage works, kerbing and channel replacements continue along the south side of Dysart Road from Goodliffe Road to the Avenue Monday 16 - Friday 20 September
Temporary traffic lights will be installed along Dysart Road, from Trent Road to Heathfield Road, alongside the one-way closure. This is to protect the workforce and travelling public and to provide safe working space for deeper drainage works Monday 16 - Friday 20 September
Footway surfacing continues from Dysart rail bridge heading towards Kempton Way Monday 16 - Friday 20 September
Footway surfacing (surface course) from Barrowby Gate to Goodliffe Road Monday 16 - Friday 20 September
Pedestrian Tactile Crossing installation and replacements Monday 16 - Friday 20 September
