A series of major highway works are scheduled to take place in Grantham throughout 2024.
Below is a list of the planned works:
Spring 2024
- SKDC鈥檚 proposed changes to the Market Place in the town centre
- Reconstruction of sections of High Street, Great Gonerby and Gonerby Road, Grantham
- Construction of a new pedestrian crossing at High Street, Great Gonerby
Summer 2024
- Reconstruction of Dysart Road
- Reconstruction of Alma Park Road
- Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing
- Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
- SKDC鈥檚 proposed changes to Station Road and A52/A607 junction
Aims and benefits
- improved road surfacing resulting in safer and smoother journeys for residents
- improved crossing facilities for pedestrians, cyclists and others not traveling by car
- improved quality of life for residents of Grantham
Cost and funding
The total cost for the roadworks (excluding SKDC鈥檚 Market Place and Station Approach works) will cost nearly 拢4 million and is being funded by us.
Timeline
- March 2024: Public information event held at Jubilee Church Life Centre
- May 2024: SKDC鈥檚 changes to the Market Place begin
- May 2024: Great Gonerby road reconstruction and construction of new High Street, Great Gonerby pedestrian crossing begin
- June 2024: Construction of a new Barrowby Road / Poplar Farm pedestrian crossing
- July 2024: Reconstruction of Alma Park Road begins
- August 2024: SKDC鈥檚 changes to Station Approach junction begin
- Autumn 2024*: Construction of a new Greenhill Road / Barrowby Road pedestrian crossing for one month
*All future dates are projected and subject to change dependent on external factors.
